I dyed lots of cottons including calico and scrim and also linen/cotton scrim and hesian (using the cat litter tray technique and procion dyes).
The background strips are embellished onto yellow felt and some fancy yarn embellished over some of the joins. Flowers were made by embellishing lots of dyed fibres onto pink felt - some scrim also brought through from the back (as it was on the background) - just kept on adding 'til I liked the look of the fabric and cut the flowers out - embellished them onto the background. Lots of beads, buds and stamens sewn into the centres and plaited yarns for the stems - one machine wrapped with Victory viscose thread. I knitted and embellished some leaves and embroidered others.
All inspired by the great Dale Rollerson.
I picked out some of the raised elements on the frame with permanent marker pens.
