Wow, Heather, you have really brightened it up. It looks so much better. I'm still resisting the need to bead but all the examples are telling me that I really should give it a go.
Don't know how active the Art Quilt site is normally. It seems a bit slow at the moment. It's almost like winter here - 7 degrees last night. We had a hot summer, but boy, it was short! I am finishing a hand embroidered piece and it has reminded me why I don't like handwork! I bought some more felt for the embellisher, so maybe at the weekend, I can play some more.
Hi Heather,
Just checked in to see if I sold some goodies on EBay and thought it time I checked this site also & saw you were online, so thought I'd say Hi. How did you go with the border for your Hide & Seek piece.
Cheers

I have to go to Maryborough 3 times a week for work so don't often go for social reasons. Do work half days both Mon and Tues.
I really got left behind on the classes with life getting in the way but I have the lessons all filed away and plenty of stuff to try when the time is right.

Hi Heather, I have not done anything for this group yet, I hope to do so when we get past this week. I am hoping to do some of the week 6 things in the near future, so will post them if I actually do something I like. I have just asked a question on the Aus/NZ group too, asking what you have to do if you join the group. Have you joined that one too? The journals are amazing!
So I hope to see your entries too.

I lost my virginity again at AQC!! First time attendees were called virgins again. I had been thinking of going to the USA this year, to visit friends (Americans) who used to live in Alice Springs but the world wide financial situation and the thought of that long haul plane trip has put that on hold. Unless I win the lottery and can at least travel business class, I doubt I'll ever make it to the USA. (And I don't buy lottery tickets). So when friends suggested going to AQC, I thought 'why not'. It's called spending the kids inheritance. I must post a picture of 'No Longer a Virgin' but I find this ning site a bit complicated. Send me your email address and I'll attach a copy of the piece I wrote for Central Craft newsletter. Better late than never.
Cheers Mavis
Hi Heather
I have to be honest and say I don't like any of the colour choices you posted, but it's not my work so it's up to you. In the photo it looks orange and brown. Or don't bother about a border. Just put something behind the piece to show through the holes and then embellish it or embellish it first and then back it with a strong colour. I think it looks great on it's own and maybe a border would detract from the actual piece.
Cheers Mavis
Hmmmm. I like the idea of painting a background and paintsticks are always fun. Are you going to do a contrast colour or stick with the orange and blacks?
I have another off the wall suggestion. Have you given any thought to using heavy beading so that the colours of you background becomes immaterial - just the beading will show. (Of course I am a beading addict and use a lot of beads as embellishments.)
Hi Heather,
Can't remember if I replied to you re Koala convention. I'm only going to the shop; would love to do a class, but no way could I afford it. They only have 2 or 3 day classes and at $155 per day plus kit , it's way out of my league. Still, I do intend to buy a kit from Sth African embroiderers,Lesley Turpin-Delport & her daughter Nicki Delport-Wepener. They do beautiful stuff & their threads are beautiful; probably sit in the cupboard for a while, but I'll take it out & look at it & drool !!!
Cheers

Hi Heather
Have you tried an olive type colour. I can't see the colours in the piece & I wouldn't say I'm an expert on colour by any stretch of the imagination, but I reckon the piece speaks for itself and I'd be inclined to use a colour that would highlight the piece on its own.
Cheers
