Hello to all you international ladies! The Scottish contingent is here :0)
I bought my embellisher in March this year at the Creative Stitches fair in Glasgow. I didn't know such a thing existed. I was chatting to a felter who had a stand at the show and we were just talking about various techniques and she showed me her machine. I thought she had been using a sewing machine then I noticed that it didn't have thread.
I went straight over to the Janome stand and the very helpful lady let me try one out. Then she told me the price and I thought "Oh well. I'd love to have one but dream on..."
Later when I met up with my husband I told him all about it and he said I should just get it. I asked him how we could possibly afford it as we are always so skint but he said if I thought it would help me make more money through my craft work then it would be an investment.
I still thought that we couldn't afford it but when we got home there was a cheque from one of the shops that sells my work and my Auntie ordered a picture from me costing £100!
So I got one. And I love it. And yes I've broken loads of needles but the company I bought it through are fantastic and sent me new needles at a great price within 24 hours of ordering them.

I have a Craft Blog
and a Flickr page if you'd like to see more pics and read about by work.

New Directions

I have had my embellisher machine for a year and a half now and I cannot believe the new directions that it has taken me.
I have also discovered the joy of machine embroidery. I got a sewing machine handed down to me from my husbands Granny and I find myself using it more and more in my work.
My hobby crafting has become a part time job for me now with eight shops here in Scotland selling my work for me. Getting time to experiment is tricky now as my spare time is always crafting time but my cra… Continue

Stitch Library

I found this fabulous link via Judy Scott's blog. I'm a total beginner when it comes to embroidery so this site is just brilliant for me. Sharon B's Stitch index
Hope this is useful to some of you aswell.

Hello Aileen, thanks for the nice comments about my Dolmen - I was pretty pleased with it too, and confess that it will be a bit of a wrench giving it away as it was made for a swap..I guess I shall just have to make another!! You have some lovely pieces too - I really like all the beautiful blues you have used. Cheers, Sue McB

Hello Aileen

Thank you - I am still amazed how fast Australia post gets letters to the UK. Do you live in a town or in the country? I don't know anything about Scottish addresses - so thought you might live in the country and would like the card that I sent the ATC in original painted by a local artist.

Please you like the ATC
Regards - Lois

Hi Aileen, I just joined this group and I am glad to see a familiar Name, yours! I got my Janome embellisher at a cut rate for my birthday. I gave it to myself! I had just got a cheque for some items I sold at a quilt show! I hope to see more of your wonderful work! I am taking an online embellisher class with Dale Rollerson so I can learn to use my machine in a creative way. My one piece of art called Bark, I posted is made with an embellisher that I borrowed during a Jan and Jean workshop when the two ladies were here in Canada. Hope to hear from you soon, Donna

Welcome Aileen - love your work. It's a fabulous machine isn't it - the more I use it the more I love what I can do with it. Did I spy some knitting in there?
